Over 15 years ago, our teammate Rob Shick was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. He has a heartening story of his and his families’ journey through this experience. At the center Rob’s recovery is the development of a medication called Gleevec developed at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute by a world-renowned researcher named Dr. Brian Druker. The organization is hosting an event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the FDA approval of this revolutionary drug.
On May 7th KGW interviewed Brian Druker and Rob Shick. During the show, they talked about the history of the drug, the work Brian and his team did, and the story behind how it saved Rob's life. You can watch the recording of this interview through the link below.
